Aromatic Indian Head Massage
An ancient Ayurvedic massage therapy, Indian Head Massage includes special massage techniques that specifically target the areas of the body most vulnerable to accumulated stress and tension: the upper back, top of the chest, shoulders, neck, arms, scalp and face. It is a therapy that can effectively release tension in taut muscles and still the mind.
A bespoke blend of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils is chosen and blended with nourishing vegetable oil for application during the massage to meet your specific physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs at the time. Some common medicinal properties of essential oils include: analgesic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, nerve tonic, sedative/stimulant, antispasmodic, diuretic and rubefacient.
In this therapy, you are seated comfortably on a cushioned chair, with the bottom half of the body clothed and the upper half wrapped in a bath towel. It can be deeply relaxing and/or invigorating, depending on the needs of the individual at the time. Optional is to apply the aromatic blend to the scalp, or to receive the massage fully clothed without using essential oils.

Hopi Ear Candling
Also known as the Thermo-auricular Therapy, Hopi Ear Candling induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and balance in the ears, forehead and sinuses. It is helpful for the relief of earache, headache, migraines, tinnitus, chronic colds, sinus problems, vertigo and hay fever, etc.
For this treatment, the person lays on their side fully clothed on a massage couch, and a lit herbal beeswax candle is placed (unlit end inserted gently into the ear) and held for a period of time in each ear. During the treatment, the candle draws up any accumulated earwax and balances the pressure between the labyrinths of the ears.
Used by the ancient Hopi Indians for spiritual purification, it can also clear negativity and is supremely soothing.

Shiatsu
Shiatsu (指圧 in Japanese derived from shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaning pressure) is a traditional hands-on therapy originating in Japan that gives us a complete system to treat mind, body and spirit. It uses gentle pressure and manipulation to influence the flow of ki (energy) bringing balance to all the systems of the body. When the body systems are in harmony, health is restored and maintained. Shiatsu brings the opportunity for space and relaxation, the optimum conditions for the body to heal itself.
Shiatsu is a form of bodywork which was traditionally used to treat patients who led sedentary lifestyles and lacked the opportunity, or need, to do more physical forms of work or labour. Therefore, Shiatsu is well suited for people in today’s developed industrialized societies.
Shiatsu can offer real benefit to people in the prevention and treatment of chronic health conditions, stress and mental illness, and promotes a flexible and positive approach to their health and well being. Treatments focus on helping the patient to help themselves. This is achieved through raising awareness of what is happening in the body and how that is affecting their physical and emotional health, treating symptoms accordingly and offering appropriate aftercare advice. This works to reduce stress and promotes feelings of calm and control, shifting the emphasis toward personal empowerment. It also greatly reduces the need for repeated courses of treatment. As no drugs or medication are used, Shiatsu can be used safely alongside other treatments and medications.
Shiatsu offers a complete system to treat mind and body and can help a wide range of conditions. It works effectively on the mind and emotions as well as the physical body and encourages a healthy balance. It works like acupuncture but incorporates touch instead of needles. Stretches and joint rotations are combined with relaxed pressure to specific areas, working with the body’s own natural pace and rhythm to promote health. Shiatsu relaxes both mind and body and improves breathing. It encourages the body to ‘let go’ emotionally as well as physically, releasing tension and stiffness in the joints, relieving pain, improving posture and restoring energy to areas where it is needed most.
Shiatsu can be equally effective when applied to the whole body or part of it, such as the head, neck and shoulder area, or the reflexes of the hands and feet. As no clothes are removed, it can be adapted to be used anywhere, with the client lying down or seated and is ideal for the workplace, as well as a clinic setting.
Recent research as shown Shiatsu to be effective in the treatment of a variety of conditions including:
- Stress and tension
- Headaches and migraine
- Back pain
- Stiff and painful joints
- Anxiety and low mood
- Relaxation and sleep
